Visitors to Hyde Park, London W2 were able to park their butts in some beautifully decorated deckchairs during the week. The old-style deckchairs had been imaginatively decorated by leading British and Chinese design artists for the Deckchair Dreams charity.
The designs had a seed theme and was inspired by an exchange with the Shanghai Botanical Garden
London’s 8 Royal Parks are enjoyed by millions of visitors throughout the year for free but their annual upkeep costs a small fortune – The Royal Park Foundation set up the Deckchair dreams charity four years ago to raise money to support them.
Since 2006, 70 artists including cartoonists, fashion designers, celebrity chefs, school children and interior designers have supplied work to bring the project to life. In total they have designed 81 original deckchair that cover a wild range of designs including wildlife, trees and other things associated with London’s parks.
