Black is the New Green!
Our famous black cabs may well soon change, fortunately not in their iconic look but in emissions following a new hydrogen technology fuelled cab.
A new designed cab was unveiled in central London the other week by the deputy mayor, Kit Malthouse and is the result of an exciting partnership between Intelligent Energy, London Taxis International, TRW Conekt and Lotus Engineering.
The new taxi is expected to travel up to 400km (250 miles) a day without the need to refuel and to prove the point a prototype was shown to excited onlookers.
Apparently the cab only emits water from its tailpipe rather than fumes so gets the thumbs up from me and the other London Escort girls who frequently travel in our humble cabs between outcalls.
All good news indeed but are sadly not yet commercially available as yet though a fleet of at last 20 should be on our streets by 2012.
