Londoner Collects Bags
I know plenty of people who are addicted to crisps but I didn’t know anyone who collected the packets with frenzied zeal until I heard of Marketing manager, Hannah Conduct (35) from Acton, west London who does just that.
With over 9,000 empty packets all neatly pressed and catalogued in her loft she must be the nations biggest collector (and have a very understanding boyfriend). She has been collecting bags for 30 years even though she insists she’s not a big crisp eater.
The odd hobby started when on a family holiday on a canal boat in the UK. They stopped at a canal side bar for a snack and took great delight in her colourful packet of pork scratchings. Her father said she could keep it and the hobby blossomed from that day.
Now she has friends from all over world who send her crisp packets to add to her collection. Though she insists the hobby is not an obsession and she now enjoys looking back at the evolution in packaging design.
We call it sad… Crisps are meant to be savoured not hoarded.
