Londoners Monster Leap!
Londoner Philip Idowu, 31, made a magnificent leap last week and won a gold medal by jumping 17.81 metres in Barcelona. This will sit nicely on his trophy shelf with the European gold he also won for the world triple jump.
Philip wasn’t the favourite to win the event and he beat Teddy Tamgho from France in a superb display of physical strength and determination. Teddy had to settle for Bronze.
Now flushed with so much success under his belt Philip hopes to win some Olympic glory in 2012 but this time on his home turf, London.
Philip born in the London Borough of Hackney, East London has a winning attitude by entering these competitions with a clear vision as to what he has to do. He is renown for working and training hard – however he manages to compete he has obviously found a wining formula.
