Notting Hill Carnival Success!
Notting Hill Carnival lived up to its reputation over the weekend when up to 1 million revellers enjoyed the music, dance, vibrant floats and wild colourful costume.
The weather was exceptional after the rain of the past days and everyone was well behaved heeding to the polices advice to only come if you want a good time. That said the police where in force and the policing strategy cost a reputed £6 million and involved over 5000 officers.
The carnival has been held each August bank holiday since 1966 involves floats, dancers and musicians doing their thing over the three-and-a-half mile route in West London.
Chicken was the most consumed snack and organisers estimated that during the weekend 5 tonnes were consumed. This was washed down with 25,000 bottles of rum which may have contributed to everyone’s jolly spirits.
Now as the dust settles and the big clean up organisation begins, organisers have begun the time consuming process of arranging next years carnival.
