Rightfully Scary!
A recent survey has shown that Londoners feel more nervous than secure when our police are armed. The report found that 44% of young people felt most uneasy and only 26% felt assured.
Ask me, it’s not that surprising that we feel a bit uneasy when we see an armed officer like the guy in our photo. It’s not everyday you see a policeman packing a piece and looking like Rambo so it stands to reason that we would feel uneasy.
I expect to see armed police at an airport or sensitive London areas such as the House of Parliament but not when popping out for a pint of milk.
We even thought the fact that the general public are nervous when they see a shooter is good. We don’t want to be like the US where carrying a gun is an everyday occurrence.
Though the survey didn’t reveal that many girls like me go rather weak kneed when we see a guy in uniform but that’s a completely different blog!
