Sun King Shines On!
Prince Charles is going solar at Clarence House after being granted permission to install the solar panels on his 180-year old London Home in a brave attempt to make it ‘carbon negative’.
He is planning to have installed 32 panels on the south-east roof and it is anticipated to cost £150,000 which if estimated are to be believed will take 10 years to recoup the cost in reduced energy bills.
The 32 phoyovoltaic panels are expected to produce 4,000 kilowatt hours which is enough electricity to power and heat an average household in the capita;. We just hope he’s got his sums wrong as I wouldn’t class the Royals as an average house… or am I missing something.
I guess the installation will only provide a quarter of his households needs and though we like solar power and harnessing the suns energy it still seems a lot to invest and a long time before a benefit is received.
